For most business owners, talk of a slowing economy is worrisome, to say the least. So why is Edge Electronics President and CEO Adrienne Giannone feeling strongly optimistic? It’s simple… because her company provides products and services that save people time and money.
Still, Adrienne does not ignore the changing times; rather, she sees the unpredictable economy as an opportunity to review operations – envisioning creative
new ways to reduce expenses, emissions, and waste, while supporting local economies. Thus, keeping Edge firmly rooted in the forefront of the electronics industry as well as the global “Green” initiative. The biggest mistake that business owners make in response to an economic downturn is unnecessarily laying off its employees, according to Adrienne: “Never let go of your people – the people are what drive the company forward.” Instead, Adrienne focuses on keeping her operations running efficiently, reducing expenses by centralizing office supply purchasing, reevaluating insurance contracts, and working with partners to ship goods in the most economical way. Though, for several businesses, the most perceptible effect of the declining economy has been the rising cost of fuel. Edge Electronics is no exception. “Our sales team spends a lot of time on the road; to cut costs and reduce emissions, we plan to offer our sales people incentives for purchasing fuel efficient vehicles.” Advancing their commitment to support the local economy and to set an example of ecological responsibility, Edge Electronics also uses neighboring vendors whenever possible. While Adrienne remains focused on Edge Electronics’ core business – supplying electronic components and displays, providing total solutions for customers – she continues to find ways to make her efforts more valuable. “Regardless of how the economy is performing, companies must grow and adapt to stay competitive in a fluid marketplace,” says Adrienne. Partnering with our local merchants is a great way to branch out while also conserving resources. Though the future of the economy is anybody’s guess – Adrienne has a pretty good idea of where Edge Electronics is headed: “The electronics display marketplace will continue to rise – it is up to companies like Edge to continue meeting the challenges of this growth – while also finding creative ways to promote fiscal and social responsibility.” Back to top Δ

The 2007 SID International Symposium, Seminar, and Exhibition was an outstanding feat for Edge Electronics, who took their displays to new heights in a completely redesigned booth, twice the size of the original. Expanding upon their 2007 success, Edge Electronics is already hard at work preparing for the 2008 SID Exhibition, which will be held in Los Angeles, May 18 – 23.
To keep their edge, Edge Electronics began conceptualizing the 2008 tradeshow immediately after the last. “Each year, we get a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t,” said Mitchell Auerbach, Edge Electronics Vice President, who noted that the expanded layout allowed attendees to move more comfortably through their booth. “Patrons were able to get a better sense of our capabilities and product offering – and that is ultimately the goal,” said Auerbach, who plans to add a few new twists in 2008.
Auerbach and Edge Electronics Field Application Engineer, Gary Schiff, have spent numerous hours laying out the displays and building demos in preparation for the show’s estimated 8,000 attendees. With an improved booth layout, Edge Electronics has the flexibility to showcase their world-class product offerings, including the latest in widescreen displays and LED back lighting.
Edge Electronics has emerged as an industry leader by aggressively meeting and exceeding the needs of their customers. “We are competing with companies many times our size,” says Auerbach, “and customers are consistently finding our solutions superior.” Back to top Δ
