- A linear regulator and a switching regulator have different thermal, noise, and external-component requirements. Compare the complete circuit, not just the output rating.
- Package and evaluation
- Confirm pin assignments, board layout, supporting components, and operating limits against the selected datasheet. Similar part numbers do not establish interchangeability.
