These display monitors are truly sunlight readable, as they use just the natural light from the environment, like paper. They include a buitlt-in edgelight for the screen to ensure visibility even in low light situations.
E-paper based displays stand out from the rest because the display itself consumes zero power to hold an image. This suitable system makes it easy to have a display system that can operate independently with solar and/or wind power together with a rechargeable battery.
Due to the low power that is required for these outdoor display monitors, it opens the possibility for various power alternatives, such as:
- AC to DC power (if available)
- Solar and/or wind power with a rechargeable battery
- POE (Power over Ethernet)
The panel on these displays draw no power when in an idle state, although the image will remain on the display. The main power consumption likely comes from the other devices, such as the media player. If only used a few times throughout a given day, the display could be powered off during idle periods and be "woken up" on an as-needed basis.
